Blackberry Server Build Document

Pre-Requisites:

Install Windows Server 2003 Standard Service Pack 1 as per Standard Build documentation.

Obtain Static IP Address for Server and submit Firewall Rule Request for IP over port 3101 for the specific IP ranges. This allows communication of Blackberry Traffic to the Research in Motion Network.

If Server is a new server, then SRP and SRP Authentication Keys are required.

If Server is not connecting to any existing database, then license keys are required.

Install Exchange System Manager Service Pack 2

Copy the entire Exchange Directory from any local blackberry server from the c:softwareexchange directory.

Go to Add Remove Programs -> Add / Remove Windows Components

Go to Application Server

Turn on ASP.net and click Details on Internet Information Server

Turn on NNTP / SMTP Service under Internet Information Server. Press OK

Press OK and click Next to install new windows components.

Once Complete, Install Exchange System Manager base version from copied location. C:SoftwareExchangeExchange2K3setup.exe

Click On Exchange Deployment Tools

Install Exchange System Management Tools Only

Go to Run Setup Now and click

The application will prompt stating that Exchange has a known compatibility issue and press continue to continue.

Press Next to continue on Welcome Screen

Agree to License Agreements and Press Next to Continue

Choose Custom Action for Microsoft Exchange and Install the Exchange System Management tools only and click next to continue.

Validate that everything is going to be installed correctly and click next.

Click Finish to close

Install Exchange System Manager Service Pack 1 from C:SoftwareExchangeE2K3_SP1E3SP1ENGsetupi386update.exe

Click Next on the Welcome Screen

Agree to License Agreement and Click Next

Update Exchange System Management Tools Only and click Next Twice.

Click Finish to Complete Installation of Service Pack 1.

Install Exchange System Management Service Pack 2 from

C:SoftwareExchangeE2k3 Sp2Exchange-SP2setupi386update.exe

Click Next on Welcome Screen

Agree to License Agreements and Press Next to Continue

Update Exchange System Management Tools Only and click Next Twice.

Click Finish to Complete Installation of Service Pack 2.

Reboot Server to ensure files are installed correctly.

Install Blackberry Enterprise Server

At the time of this document, Blackberry Enterprise Server version 4.0 service pack 5 hotfix 4 is the current Honeywell Standard for Blackberry. Ensure you have logged on with Blackberry Service Account that will be used to run services. Service requires correct permissions to Exchange Servers.

Install the full version of Blackberry Enterprise server typically found under C:sourceBES 4.0 Fullbesx_4[1].0.3

Run Setup.exe from C:sourceBES 4.0 Fullbesx_4[1].0.3

Click Next and Choose Blackberry Enterprise Server on next Screen and click Next.

If the server is replacing a Blackberry Enterprise server that has failed, then please consult table below. If server is brand new server within the Honeywell environment, then please continue to step 5.

Please follow below listed information before choose YES or NO of MSDE Install. Then Click Next

*For existing servers that have external database server, choose NO install of MSDE.

*For existing that have database on itself (NJ06BB001 or CH71BES179) then install MSDE.

*For new servers choose NO install of MSDE, as database will connect to closest Database.

External launcher will load and click next on main screen

Enter Necessary information as shown below and click next.

Accept terms of agreement and click next

If server is a failed server, choose appropriate server name (ie. FR44BB01) and click next.

Use default install directory and click next.

Use default directory for log files and click next.

Enter password for Blackberry Service account and click next.

Validate install information is correct and click install.

Click finish and close.

Click Next on Configuration

Enter Appropriate Blackberry Database Server and Appropriate Database Name from Step 4. Uncheck Backup the existing database and click YES when prompted. Then Click Next

Choose appropriate SRP routing gateway for Blackberry Server and test network connection. Ensure successful before continuing on. Click next.

If Server exists on external database server, SRP information will pre-populate. If server is new or stand alone server, then enter necessary SRP Information and click next.

Ensure correct service account mailbox is used and click ok.

Do not start services and click finish.

Ensure all Blackberry Services are set to manual and reboot.

Once server is rebooted, logon with appropriate BES Service account. Upgrade server to service pack 5 from location C:sourceBES 4.0 Fullbesx_upgrader_4[1].0.5setup.exe

Repeat steps 1 21 as upgrade is the same procedure as fresh install.

Once server is rebooted, logon with appropriate BES Service account. Upgrade server to Hotfix 4 from location C:sourceBES 4.0 Fullbesx405hf4besx405hf4.msp

Update server by clicking update

Enter password for BES Service Account and click next

Click Finish

Click Yes to restart server

Upon reboot of server, logon with Blackberry Service account and you will be prompted for Blackberry Configuration, click Next.

Ensure Appropriate Database is selected and uncheck database backup.

Click Next on SRP Configuration

Click Next on SRP Key Page

Click OK on Exchange Mailbox Configuration Page

Start Blackberry Services and click finish.

Click Start -> All Programs -> Blackberry Enterprise Server -> Blackberry Manager and validate that server is connected correctly to database and that user information is loaded correctly.
