Medhir

Overview: Medhir is a loosely defined country dominated by a handful of feuding clan leaders. The nation engages in enough agriculture to remain largely self-sufficient, but is otherwise a relatively poor nation. When not battling against each other, the Medhiram must contend against remaining enclaves of goblinoids, as well as reptilian barbarians and more bizarre threats which emerge from the Hinnom from time to time.

Land: Medhir is a windy region full of plains and grasslands, with cool winters and warm summers. Coastline to the north and south keeps the region well-watered, with a great deal of marshland.

Culture: Medhiram place a great deal of emphasis on family loyalty and fortitude, and do not tolerate laziness and complaint. They accept conflict as a fact of life. The constant threat posed by inhuman foes makes most Medhiram hostile toward magic and magic users. On the other hand, the frequency with which they engage and defeat these foes means that they do not share many of the numerous and false superstitions of the Dargani. Life in Medhir revolves around the semi-nomadic patterns of tribes who battle for livestock and the best land in which to raise them; horsemanship, husbandry, and skill at arms are the most important skills. During the winter, an uneasy truce exists as the clans gather in the countrys few strongholds and trading hubs. Medhiram favor clothing and possessions which are low-maintenance and easily transported. They are usually clad in wool and skins, with reed sandals and cloth wrappings to protect their feet.

Language: Coda is the most common language in Medhir. Some have also learned Goblin, Draconic, and Giant.

Races: Medhiram are almost entirely human, the notable exception being the Ardra who live in the thick northern forests and the forests which border the marshlands, and who fight fiercely against the reptilian humanoids which reside there.

Religion: Orlak, Benlak, Karroth, and Miralorn are the most popular deities among the clans. Lesshua and Sarketh are worshipped in the marshland regions.

Capitol: Balaam
