Body Abilities Specific to Competitions during the Physical Education Class

As an instructive-educational process, the Physical Education class has an organized character; it is a reciprocal process which submits the students to a series of permanent actions, in agreement with the Physical Education's objectives regarding the perfecting of the physical development and of improving the physical state.

As an incontestable reality concerning the way of life adopted by the youngsters in universities, Physical Education classes presume various shapes of manifesting but also an increasing number of skilled students, willing to value their physical condition, body abilities and knowledge in the current and systematic practice of the Physical Education classes or through the organizing system of university competitions.

Key words: lesson, body skills, sport events

Contents: Competitions, through a wide range of technical-tactical methods, present a dynamic and spectacular character, therefore enjoying the audience and participation of an ever increasing number of students. Sport competitions have a series of characteristics and functions emphasized by modern pedagogy through the following:

  • Participating at these collective sport activities includes the assumption of certain roles and following a set of given rules;
  • Sport events offer the required conditions for establishing interpersonal relations;
  • Sport events contribute to the diversity of the interpersonal relations between the students, to their mobilization towards the group's life and activity;
  • Sport events include competitive relations and take place under the form of competitions, observing not only precise roles but also a severe regulation;

Extracted from the observations and researches made until the present days, it has been established that the moment of passing from pupil to student encounters the young:

Under the aspect of the physical condition's manifesting level: as a group with certain top elements in the sport branch, over 15% of the students are under the medium level of physical development specific to this age, having the tendency of inaction or even a decrease of the general resistance and force index, as compared with the previous generations;

Under the aspect of teaching and forming certain body abilities and skills specific to a series of sport branches: 60% of the students have a reasonable level of manifesting them;

Being in the situation of choosing for activities in which the sustaining of sub-maximum, maximum and of long standing are minimum (without the series of exercises for developing a running resistance, and without the gymnastics exercises; aerobic and up keeping gymnastics and sport events are preferred);

For sport events, in the training process is recommended the simultaneous landing of both the attack and defense actions, making easier the reciprocal game based on repeating it as often as possible. During the training there will be taught gradually theoretical concepts of the game regulation. Increasing the efficiency and the intensity of the Physical Education lesson through repeating every lesson is obtained through the active use of frontal and pair work. In teaching the technical elements regarding these sport events, the period of analytical exercise of these procedures will be as short as possible, the main focus being put on the correct assimilation of the important elements: assimilating the basic technical-tactical procedures of the game, with a clear distinction of the final process (shooting at the basket, shooting at the gate, attacking the net), developing the skill of applying the basic technical-tactic procedures during the game with a decreased effect and simplified rules, accomplishing the ability of making a reciprocal game with a complete team and following the game regulation.

Conclusions

The main components of the sport events contribute to the formation of a varied system of knowledge, body skills and abilities having the purpose of shaping and developing a high level of manifesting the body abilities.

Used continuously and systematically both in the Physical education classes and in the free time activities, body abilities specific to the sport competitions contribute to the development of a harmonious shaped body, with a muscle mass beautifully shaped and with a correct body line.

The body abilities specific to the sport competitions may also be used under the form of activity games.
