Spot the Interview Mistakes

Ne si poslechnete jeden nepoveden přijmac pohovor, zopakujme si, čeho se vyvarovat:

A lot of people hear the question they want to hear, or the one they've researched for, not the one the interviewer actually asked.

The conventional wisdom is that you should never criticise a former employer or teachers or whatever. But of course thats difficult if youre also going to be honest.

And sometimes youll be asked a question about your former employer, for example, which if youre to answer it honestly involves some explanation and maybe some criticism. I think if you find yourself in that situation its important to let the interviewer know that that you know its not good practice but you dont have a choice. So you might say something like well Im aware of the conventional wisdom about not criticising ones former employer

Its a simple question - tell me a bit about yourself. Most candidates go into a panic. I had one chap who talked for 42 minutes.

Simon se uchz o msto v obchodě, kde hledaj někoho, kdo m vborn komunikačn schopnosti a um jednat s lidmi. Interview nezačn nejťastněji, Simon se celkem dopust čtyř zkladnch chyb:

Simon Oh no! Its three oclock and Im meant to be at my interview..(out of

breath)  Phew - well at least Im nearly there.

V Would you like to come in and take a seat?

S Yes thank you. Im sorry Im late. I didnt realise your building was so

far up the street.

V (briskly/clicks tongue) Never mind about that now. Im going to start by

asking you about the sales job youve applied for. Can you tell me why you

are suitable for the job?

S  Well Ive always enjoyed selling things, I like travelling, and [brightly] the

salary looks quite good as well..

V (furious sound of pencil scribbling as int. takes notes - says: almost to

herself:)that wasnt quite the answer I was looking for.(then back to

brisk tone). My next question is: why did you leave your last job?

S [pause while V1 uncomfortably clears throat and:)Ummahhthe reason is

I had a terrible boss. He was rude and didnt appreciate my work at all!

V I seethats interesting. Now my final question: Can you tell me a bit about

yourself?

S Right! Its a bit of a long story, but I was born in London and went to

school there. Then I decided to find a job in Scotland because the country is

so beautiful. [fade sometime here]Ive had 2 jobs since leaving college and I

hope to get this sales job because its very interesting. (fade out by here)

No.1: Prvn chyba je jasn - pozdn přchod, omluva a vysvětlovn - to nen dobr začtek.

No. 2: Simon neodpověděl na otzku, proč se hod na tuto prci, ale msto toho začal

vysvětlovat, co rd děl. Na tomto mstě měl uvst přklady relevantnch schopnost.

No.3: Třetho omylu se dopustil, kdy začal kritizovat svho fa.

No.4: Msto stručnho souhrnu na otzku: povězte mi něco o sobě, jsme slyeli začtek 42 minutovho monologu.
